Youth Mental Health and Wellness
Common Thread by Wolfson Children’s is weaving a greater understanding of the importance of youth mental health throughout our communities in North Florida and South Georgia.
We're working to support the mental health and well-being of children and teens by strengthening protective factors—positive community traits that reduce risk—through three key focus areas:
Awareness Thread: Reducing stigma and sparking conversation through community events, trainings, shared stories, and thoughtful content across media platforms.
Education Thread: Offering free, easy-to-understand resources to help caregivers and trusted adults recognize signs of struggle and support kids with age-appropriate tools and strategies.
Community Thread: Connecting families with nearby mental health providers and community resources, making it easier to get the right support at the right time.

Strengthening the Thread of Hope
September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month. Suicide is a leading cause of death among young people, and rates have risen sharply in recent years. Parents, caregivers, trusted adults, and friends can all play a role in noticing warning signs and offering support.
To help, we’ve created:
A parent's guide to recognize the difference between typical adolescent behavior and signs a child may be thinking about suicide, plus action steps to provide support.
A youth guide to help young people recognize when a friend may be struggling and how to respond.
A safety plan template to use once a young person is connected to mental health support, offering a roadmap for managing crises.
Together, these resources offer practical ways to recognize, respond to, and support the young people in your life.
