Wolfson Children's Hospital appoints new board chair and welcomes new board members

Jacksonville, FL -

Wolfson Children's Hospital Board of Directors is pleased to announce pediatric hematologist/oncologist Eric Sandler, MD, as its new board chair.

Dr. Sandler served as the chief of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology at Nemour Children's Specialty Care from 1998 to 2017, and is currently the director of Neuro-Oncology and co-director of the Vascular Malformations Program. At Wolfson Children's Hospital, Dr. Sandler has served as past chief of staff and has been on the Board of Directors since 2008. He also is an associate professor of Pediatrics at the Mayo School of Medicine and the University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville.

For his work improving the lives of pediatric cancer patients, Dr. Sandler earned the American Cancer Society's St. George Medal and Lane Adams Award. His major areas of focus include comprehensive care for children with cancer and long-term follow-up care of childhood cancer survivors, as well as vascular malformations.

Additionally, two new Wolfson Children's board members have been elected.

Erin Wolfson, an Atlantic Beach resident, is an assistant state attorney with the State Attorney's Office, 4th Judicial Circuit. She spent the majority of her career in the Special Assault Division focusing on the prosecution of domestic violence, sexual assault offenses, and crimes against children.

In 2005, Wolfson received a Bachelor of Art in History from Vanderbilt University, where she was an Ingram Scholar. She then received her law degree from the University of Florida Levin College of Law. She currently serves as a member of The Women's Board of Wolfson Children's Hospital.

Jared Rice, executive director of THE PLAYERS, joined the annual golf tournament's staff as the director of sales and marketing in 2010 and was promoted to vice president in 2016.

Prior to THE PLAYERS, Rice worked in business development and global licensing at the PGA TOUR, where he oversaw development of licensing programs worldwide and assisted with the sale of title sponsorships.

Rice graduated from the University of South Carolina with a degree in Sports Marketing and Business Administration. He has served on the board of directors for the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens, the Ponte Vedra Chamber of Commerce and the Winston Family YMCA.
