Registered Nurse - Pediatric Intensive Care - Wolfson Children's Hospital

Job Summary

We are looking for a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Pediatric Intensive Care (PICU) team in Jacksonville, FL.   The PICU at Wolfson Children's Hosptial has achieved gold-level status by the American Association of Critical Care Nurses.  The PICU treats a child who is critically ill, has a serious injury or is recovering from a major surgery, or any child whose medical needs are too acute for the main medical floors.  Most PICU patients come from the emergency room or critical care transport due to severe breathing problems, serious infections, heart conditions or accidental injuries.  This is a full-time night shift position.  As a Registered Nurse in the PICU your responsibilities include but are not limted to:

  • Provides for patient needs as recognized through use of the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation) and the mission statement
  • Organization; supervision of care provided by supportive personnel and coordination of care provided by ancillary services
  • Including patients and significant others (SO)/families in developing an individualized plan of care
  • Education of patients/SO/families to their disease process and plan of care
  • Serves as patient advocate and responsible for providing care to critical patients that require a higher acuity of care
